She was born Feb. 17, 1918, in Madison, the daughter of Charles P. and Inez Naomi Burnham Lockridge. She graduated from Madison High School in 1936 and worked at Bear's Jewelry until her marriage. She was a member of the old Madison Country Club, where she enjoyed playing bridge, dominoes and golf with her many friends. She grew African violets in her home and enjoyed reading, Indiana University basketball and listening to jazz along with her husband. She was a member of the Madison Elks Lodge, Tri Kappa Sorority, the Jefferson County Historical Society and Trinity United Methodist Church. She is survived by one son, Berigan "Barry" Cooper of Bluff City, Tenn.; one daughter, Rebecca "Becky" Cooper Pearce of Indianapolis; one granddaughter; three step grandchildren; five nieces; two nephews; and several great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Warren Cooper, whom she married Oct. 26, 1940, and who died Aug. 31, 1996; her parents; and one sister, Maxine Burkert. The funeral was at Trinity United Methodist Church. Burial was in Springdale Cemetery.
