Conrad Goldman
Birth: 1664, Gundheim, Landkreis Alzey-Worms, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany
Death: 1712 (aged 47-48), New York, USA
Burial: Unknown, Specifically: Burial Place Unknown
Johann Conrad Goldman (c. 1664-c. 1712) was probably born in Gundheim, Germany. I am uncertain of his parents' names (some sources state they were Johann Conrad & Johanna Cahterina). All that is definitely known is that he had two brothers, Anton Goldman (1652-1708), who was vice mayor of Gundheim, and Jois Valentine Goldman.
Conrad was twice married. His first wife's name is unknown, and they had one daughter, Anna Maria, who married Jacobus Mittich in 1705.
On 25 Nov. 1700, Conrad married Anna Ursula Ritz (c. 1675-1748). She was a daughter of Jois Ritz, a "citizen Bermerheims." In addition to her father, Conrad's brother, Anton Goldman was a witness at the wedding.
Around 1709, they and their five chiidren left Germany and went to Holland, the first part of a migration that led to their arrival in New York in the summer of 1710. Apparently, two of the children died at sea, because a list of those in the Palatine camp at Hunterstown, east bank of the Hudson River, New York dated 4 July 1710, lists the Goldman family with two adults and three children.
In August of 1711, Conrad was listed as a volunteer soldier in Queen Anne’s war at Port Royal Canada. He may have been killer or died in the war, or he may have died after returning home. However, sometime prior to 1717, his wife was listed as "Widow Goldman."
I believe the children of Johann Conrad Goldman and Anna Ursula Ritz were:
1. Jacob Goldman (c. 1701-1750) m. Mary Abigail Brown, d. Augusta Co., Virginia in August or Sept. 1750. Children, John, Jacob, Jr., Henry and Mary Goldman.
2. Conrad Goldman, Jr. (c. 1702-1744, d. Pennsylvania) m. Maria Clara Mohr, children: Jacob, Martin, Conrad III, Elizabeth (Mrs. Wilhelm Hoster), Catherina, Magdalena (Mrs. John Summy), and Maria Margaret.
3. Mary Goldman (c. 1703-c. 1778) m. Frederick Starnes (c.17800-c.1775) and went to Virginia. Children, Valentine, Frederick, Jr, Leonard, Joseph, Adam, Thomas Starnes and Sarah (Mrs. Jacob Myers).
4. Unknown child, died at sea, c. 1710
5. unknown child, died at sea, c 1710
6. Johan George Goldman (c. 1711-1820), went to North Carolina, died in Indiana at the age of 108.
Family Members: Spouse: Anna Ursula Ritz Goldman (1675-1748, m. 1700); Children: Mary Goldman Starnes (1703 - Unknown)
