March 19, 1645, in N. Am. [New Amsterdam], and on the assumption that she was 21 years old at marriage she must have been born about 1624, and her parents must have been married about 1623). It is not thought that Jacob Verdon ever came to this country; but, if he did, he must have died soon after his arrival here and his widow married her 2nd husband, Willem Adriaense Bennet, in time to bear him a son whom Bergen (KCO., p. 30), states was born in 1639. His wife's name was MARY BADIE (sometimes known as Mary Thomas), and she was the daughter of Aeltje (or Altien) Brackhoengie (or Braconye) by her first husband, Thomas Badie. She, Mary Badie, was born sometime in the early 1600s to be of a suitable age to become the wife of Jacob Verdon. Mary Badie came over to this country some time between 1635 and 1638 either with her first husband, Jacob Verdon, or without him as his widow, which alternative is not positively determined. If she came without him, she was enciente with her last child by him, her son Thomas Verdon, who is recorded as a native of New Netherland. Mary Badie was living as late as January, 1697 (KCO., p. 30). She married, as her second husband Willem Adriaense Bennet and as her third husband Mr. Paulus Van de Beek and by each of her marriages she left issue. Her issue by her 2nd and 3rd husbands will be recorded by me respectively under the records of the Bennet and Van der Beek families.
