  Notes	(1) E-mail message dated 09/18/2008 from Nancy McCoy to the compiler: Last fall, after going through documents belonging to Aunt Frances, I discovered some correspondence between her and Craig Greer, dated 1990. Craig believed he was the son of my mother's brother, William Starns. I emailed Craig and spoke with him by phone and believe there can be no doubt that he is Bill's son. A photograph of Craig shows a strong resemblance to others in the Starns family. Craig was born after Bill and Lucy Starns divorced. His mother and Bill were not married. Craig is an engineer for Nokia in the Dallas, Texas area. He has a PhD from Stanford University and is married with three children. He was adopted as a baby and had an adopted brother, who died in an accident. After his parents died, Craig had a medical checkup and was asked questions about his medical history. He answered that there was no way for him to know, since he was adopted. He was advised that it was possible to locate his birth certificate. Subsequently, he learned his parentage and established contact with his birth mother's family. They confirmed that Bill Starns was his father. Here is a copy of an email I received from him: Hi Nancy, Thanks so much for the pictures and information that you sent. You have a nice family! I dug out the material I put together years ago when I was doing the search. It reminded me of the amount of work I put into it. I was also reminded of some of the details I had forgotten. For instance, my birth parents apparantly knew each other in their younger years, before Bill married. Who knows, you may have even known my birth mother. Her name was Sara Grace Brooks. Her married name was Dickey. I found the letter that Frances sent. I had forgotten, but apparently she sent me some pictures that I copied and returned. I don't believe I kept a copy of the letter I sent her. It would be interesting to see what I said if you are able to send me a copy.
