      VERNON W. FROST, a long time Houston resident, died July 11, 2000. The seventh child of John Miles Frost and Rosa Lula Bering Frost, he was born at 406 Gray on October 10, 1910. A member of a great pioneering family, his grandfather, Samuel Miles Frost, established the first subdivision in Houston which was known as "Frost Town". His father imported the first Brahman bulls to Texas. Under the tutelage of his older brother, C.M. "Pete" Frost, Vernon learned the oil and gas business. With monies received from oil and gas exploration he transformed 1,000 acres of Brazos Valley land into Pecan Acres Ranch and developed an award winning Brahman herd while simultaneously developing a commercial pecan growing industry. Mr. Frost lead a group called The Houston Eagle Lake Highway Association who convinced the Texas Highway Commission to pave a permanent road (F.M. 1093) from Houston to Eagle Lake. He was a lifetime Vice President and Director of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and former Chairman of the International Committee; former Secretary and State Chairman of Membership Committee of TIPRO; one of the organizers and former Vice President of the Houston Petroleum Club; former member of the Houston Club; former Director of the American Brahman Breeders Association, and former President of the Houston area chapter; former President of the Houston Farm and Ranch Club; Chairman of the 1961 Harris County American Cancer Society Crusade; multi-year Director of Tennessee Bank & Trust Company; Member of Advisory Committee Baylor-Methodist Neurosensory Center; Member of the President's Council M.D. Anderson Tumor Clinic; Trustee, Retina Research Foundation; former member Rancheros Vistadores Trailride Association and former member of Tejas Vaqueros Trailride Association; rode in the first ride of the Salt Grass Trail Association; Member of the Rosenberg-Richmond Area Chamber of Commerce and Member of the Fort Bend Museum Association. Member of the 100 Club of Houston and the 100 Club of Fort Bend County; a member of River Oaks Country Club and a member of Weston Lakes Country Club. Mr. Frost formerly served on the Board of Directors of St. Paul's Methodist Church on Main Street and was a charter member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Fulshear, Texas. Mr. Frost was predeceased by his first wife, Inza Sherar Frost; is survived by his wife, Delores Lee (Dodie) Frost; sons, Vernon W. Frost, Jr., of Austin, Texas, Robert S. Frost and wife, Synda Anthony Frost, of Simonton, Texas; daughters Ann Frost Bailey, of Denver Colorado and Betty Frost McAleer and husband, E.J. "Mac" McAleer, Jr. of Houston. Grandchildren: Charles Miles Frost and wife, Tamara Beasley Frost, Michael McGaha Frost, Jeanette Frost, Vanessa Frost, Caroline Frost, Claire Frost, David Anthony Frost, Stacey Wersebe Silverstein and husband, Brock Silverstein, David Frost Wersebe, E.J. (John) McAleer, III, Anna McAleer, great granddaughter, Susan Elizabeth Frost, stepson, William F. Jorn and wife, Meg Jorn, step grandchildren: Austin, Talley and Erik Jorn. Friends may call at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway after 1:00 p.m., where the family will receive friends Thursday evening July 13, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Private graveside services will be held at Memorial Oaks Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 14, 2000. Following interment, a 12:00 Noon Memorial Service will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Fulshear, 8201 Harris, Fulshear, Texas. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the First United Methodist Church of Fulshear, 8201 Harris, Fulshear Texas, 77441, the Retina Research Foundation, 6560 Fannin, Houston, Texas 77030 or M.D. Anderson Hospital, P.O.
