      JOHN P. BAKER DIED HERE WEDNESDAY

      Contractor in This City Many Years Passed Away at Home of Daughter

      John P. Baker, a native of Ohio county, and a contractor for the past several years, passed away at 4:10 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Elwood Green, 552 Third Street. Although he had been in failing health for the past six months his condition had been serious for only two days, death being caused by uremic poisoning.

      Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon from the Salem Ridge Church, near Aurora, Ind., and burial will be in the church cemetery in charge C.F. Fix & Son Funeral Directors.

      Mr. Baker was a son of the late George and Barbara Baker and was born in Ohio county, Oct. 18, 1866, being at the time of death, sixty-six years, six months, and two days old. On Oct. 1, 1884, he was united in marriage with Miss Matilda Peaslee and to this union three children were born, all of whom survive.

      Fourteen years ago, Mr. Baker came to Shelbyville and he has resided here continously since that time. Mrs. Baker preceded him in death, Nov. 15, 1895.

      Besides the daughter at whose home he died, he is survived by a son, Lawrence Baker of Cincinnati,OH., a daughter Mrs. Frank Steer, also of Cincinnati, four sisters, Mrs. Roy Brooks, of Indianapolis, Mrs. Charles Holt, of Madison, Ind., Mrs. I.F. Cooper of Vandalia, ILL., and Mrs. William Williamson, of Maywood, ILL., a brother George Baker, of Cincinnati and eight grandchildren.
