- (1) Allen, Robert M., "Descendants of Robert Turk" <http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/a/l/l/Robert-M-Allen-CA/GE NE2-0002.html>:
It is believed that John Turk was married twice. The first wife was the daughter of a Mr. Smith, brother to Robert Smith who wrote his will in Ninety Six District, SC on 25 Oct. 1783. Robert Smith's will mentions his nephew, Thomas Turk (assumed son of John Turk) and children of Omey Carter (assumed to be Meomy/Naomi Carter, wife of George Carter). Robert Smith was also a signatory of the petition to the Governor in 1754. The second wife was Agnes, his widow mentioned in his will. It could be possible that he was only married once if it could be proven that Agnes, his surviving widow, was the daughter of a Mr. Smith, brother to Robert Smith.
