(6) Obituary from The Chattanooga Times, October 6, 1931: GROSS - ZACH TAYLOR, aged 79, passed away yesterday afternoon [October 6, 1931] at his home in East Chattanooga after a lingering illness. Mr. Gross was a member of the Birchwood Baptist church and had been a prominent citizen of that community for many years. Surviving are his widow; two sons, Dr. T. F. Gross, of Oklahoma, and Lewis Gross, of Georgetown; three daughters, Mrs. Dollie Lee, of Ooltewah, Mrs. Will Pickard, of Florida, and Mrs. Cora Deaton, of Virginia; also twenty-six grandchildren. Funeral services will be held from the Greenwood church at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon, with the Rev. Tony Lewis officiating. Interment will follow in the McDonald cemetery. Pallbearers will be Lewis Gross, Tom Lee, Burk Bettis, Will Pickard, Curt Lee, Jr., and M. P. Lewis. Arrangements in charge of Coulter's.
