Apr 1850, aged 59 (from Dade Co. mortality schedule), a resident of Dade County, Georgia. Curtis notes from the 1850 Census of Dade County, District 21 (enumerated Oct 1850) John's family: "Mary Austin 53 b. TN, William 24, Daniel 18, Delia 12, and Mary 8 , all born in AL." Curtis identifies Mary as John's second wife, and supposes that the daughter Mary is by this second wife. Not enumerated were Emily b. 1925 - probably married and out of the house, Emily b. abt. 1828 and James S. b. abt 1834, the two of them presumably having died young before the 1850 census was enumerated. Curtis' data here is augmented from that supplied by Homer and Kathy Austin CO (1978). A letter from them indicates a family Bible of Daniel Wesley Austin to be in the hands of William Arthur Austin of Ft. Worth, TX. PARENT-GUARDIANSHIP: Charles Edwin Austin, "Hezekiah and Nancy Austin of Anderson County, TN." AUSTINS OF AMERICA, Feb. 1983, pp 58 & 59. Minutes of the Pleas and Quarterly court of Anderson Co., TN - the minutes for the third session, Sep. 1802 shows that Milley Austin' s children were: Joseph, Elizabeth, Zachariah, Hezekiah, John, Daniel, Phoebe and Nancy Austin. John Austin was bound out to John Howard. RESIDENCES: Migration pattern, Anderson, Bledsoe, and Marion Cos., TN; Bond Co., IL; Jackson and De Kalb Cos. AL.
