The estate of William Burke was settled in 1754 and one of those mentioned, from whom debts were recovered for articles sold, was Sarah Stern. She was probably Frederick’s daughter, then in her twenties.

Sarah Starnes is believed to have shortly thereafter married Jacob Meyers, who was one of the younger workers on the road between Capt. Samuel Stalnaker’s and Jame [sic] Davis’ place, ordered in late 1753. Jacob Meyers and wife, Sarah, lived on the headwaters of the James River for many years. The Meyers (Moyers) family was associated with the Starnes, both in New York’s Schoharie Creek and in Virginia’s New River German settlements.

The Locust Bottom Church was built on land given by Jacob Meyers and his wife, Sarah, in 1786 "to the community of Dutch Calvinists and Lutherans" near the head of the James River.

In July 1798, conveyed to Edward McDonald, Jacob Peters, Christian Lemon, and Jacob Meyers' trustees, was one acre of land "for the preaching of the gospel and the education of youth."
